That $30 LCOE for wind/solar is without storage. You need to look at the storage report/analysis to get the full picture. This is where I allude to "looking through the political obfuscation" in those reports.
Wind and solar need storage to work efficiently, otherwise they are near useless. We need a 24/7 power system. The European situation is bringing this exact issue into the spotlight right now. This is why we are seeing the price of coal at US$350/t instead of $50/t. The discussion I'm triggering here is around where the long term price of energy will settle, specifically coal.
