1) Longer and extended warranties! Online ive seen u get 1 yr warranties and if u want extra you gotta pay 4 it; JBH and other retailers you get around 3year warranties. So if u factoe this in, the prices are pretty much the same (I looked at laptops for example - if u want extra 2 years warranty u gotta pay much extra!)

2) You get customer service and points of contact, sales managers etc you can TALK to when an issue arises or when u want to return goods etc; Thats a biggy. Most mature customers need that service or points of contact shoud a complaint or issue come up when buying expensive electricals; The big retailers are pretty FLEXIBLE with return of faulty goods or returns and exchanges etc

3) JBH is the MARKET LEADER in australia with no major new major competitor!

4) When one buys DVDs or CDs, its usually SPUR OF THE MOMENT 'i just got paid n feel like spending 2day' type buying from 16-36yr olds group; Who could be bothered waiting 2 weeks to get the shipment from amazon on DVDS?? Amazon good for NICHE type buying of DVDs....or if you want to buy alot all in one go....most ppl tho just buy DVDs n CDs on spur of the moment coz they just want to spend

5) Financing!!! Online, you can never get 12-36mths interest free periods on GE cards for exampple or other such credit. This is a biggy for the retailers. You can pretty much buy a big screen Tv and pay less than 10 bucks a week for 24months

Overall , yes some savvy buyers switched to internet...but theres all the dowensides of no after sales service in case of an issue or complaint, short warranties where u have to pay much more for an extra cpla years warranty, no favourable financing credit with no interest periods for years, and no utility that one gets from on the spur type buying....internet is good for NICHE type buying.....low ticket items like CDs and DVDs anyways cost about 9-15 bucks at JBH and most are heavily discounted....so whats the point of buying on internet?? Over 50% of the DVDs there u can get for 9.99-12.99-15.00bucks

Book stores like borders went outta biz coz the price discrepency between borders and amazon was HUGE. With JBH and DVDs n CDs, the price difference is very small and once u include shipping costs, it aint worth it! \

JBs advantage is that its already a big discounter and retains margins despite the discounting ...showing that they have a superior purchasing/supplier chain
