Let’s say hypothetically I own 1,200,000 shares at an average price of .023 and I’m lucky enough to pick the peak and sell all at .065. My initial investment of $27,600 is now worth $78,000 with a total profit of $50,400. Now I owe the tax man 40% (low end) of the profit which is $20,160 leaving me with $30,240 + initial investment of $27,600 = $57,840. I think to myself “I really believe in the fundamentals of AUZ” and decide after today’s hefty retrace and the fact that an ANN is around the corner to by back in at .045. I fill out my order and rub my hands together with glee and then realise that I only have 85,333 more units than my initial investment PLUS I’ve reset the CGT clock! Correct me if I’m wrong but it seems like a whole heap of pissing about to get an extra 85,333 shares AND give the gov 20 grand AND have to wait another year for the CGT discount??
