Challenge is that you are trying to time the market in the short term - this by definition makes you a trader not a LT holder.
So let's assume that you sell. There's a chance that the prices could go up in which case you've now locked in a capital gain (= taxes to be paid) and then lost upside chasing to get back in. Better to have stayed in for the long term and get access to the 50% CGT discount if you can hold for more than 12 months.
Some folks like to do both and have LT parcel of shares that they hold regardless of SP fluctuations and a ST parcel that they trade into and out of to try and time the market.
