IMO Telstra are too big, hopelessly inefficient and continue to have a stodgy institutionalised approach and attitude to doing business, and to their different operations, development and financial divisions.

Try to get service from Telstra by calling 132200. You will likely find yourself speaking to someone overseas who has little idea of what you want, where you live and can't speak or understand the language. You will likely be refered to a private contractor who will refer you back to Telstra who will then refer you to another contractor who will still not be able to understand what you need, because the service that needs attention was provided to a tenanant of the property and who has moved on. You will then be refered to a different contractor who will probably pass you back to Telstra who will then wipe their hands of you and tell you to employ your own contractor and get the work done yourself.

Their left hand does not seem to know what their right hand is up to, and they don't seem to care.

Time Telstra simplified their procedures and employed a multi skilled accountable workforce, split into self supporting divisions and got rid of the non accountable monolithic entity that it struggles to be.
