Hi Goodheart. A vacuum disc dewatering system just removes water to turn it from a pumpable slurry into a pellet plant feed. It doesnt make it dry. In a pellet plant the feed to the plant is soft like a workable stiff clay. Its not suitable for bulk handling. If GRR want to export unpelletised product they need to have the equipment to produce a material that can be handled without pelletising. A normal vaccuum disc filter wont do that.
This stuff is hard to handle. In the Pilbara they call it ultra fines. There is 80,000tph (700mtpa) put into tailings dams into the Pilbara and a lot of it has iron grades in the high 50 percent ramge. Its put into tailings not sold because its difficult stuff. Grange is only set up to export pellets from my research. They cant just convert quickly to exporting fines. It doesnt work like that.
If somebody has flowsheet information to say i am wong speak up. But from my research the concept of a quick conversion to fines export is not realistic.
