I agree that Australia does need to better consider our future industrial infrastructure. However we have to ensure that the infrastructure projects will add value to the economy.
On a related topic, we need to reconsider the effects of climate change and discourage further residential development (and freeways) on ground that is less than 6 metres above sea level. It is just crazy to see new high rise developments still being built along the gold coast sand strip, or the canal estates still being established. There will be a huge relocation cost to pay in years to come.
It is curious that for example in the wealthy coastal suburb of Cottesloe in Perth, landowners are campaigning for the government to "do something" about the encroaching beaches affecting the value of their properties. Society thinks in strange ways.
