Hi Mr H. as I see it if the Athena is part of the deal between COP and WPL then there is going to be a stoush shortly between those two shortly. CNE as operator will contract whom ever they please, considering as Whisky says, they have 65% between FAR, CNE, Petrosen. If CNE sign a rig contract where does that leave the deal between WPL/COP?? If WPL agreed to take on the Athena there is no way they are going to continue forth having to pay 100+ million to Ocean Rig to have a rig just floating about while they are paying for 35% of another one.....are they?
I think this maybe the point at which something gives, if CNE are close to signing a contract COP will be under extreme pressure. Can you imagine how it will look to their shareholders if they not only miss the sale but have to pay out a rig contract costing 150 million or more whilst drilling with another rig costing them 35%!!
