the best outcome for shareholders is a buy-back, when the company is grossly undervalued.
a cash payment or special divi will only cause the sp to collapse once the payment leaves their account, they'll pump it up to the payment amount and shorts slam it down, the same big end of town benefits.
weren't AMP talking about an 8>1 consolidation not that long ago
i however agree with your broader sentiment....that markets are corrupt. How do we know, well ASIC and the regulators wouldn't exist, they would have shut down decades ago had it all been by the book, business is booming.
