The simulator will enable ENT surgeons to train in major ear surgery including preparation for the implantation of
assisted hearing devices such as the Cochlear Implant (or Bionic ear).
University of Melbourne Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Innovation and Development), Professor
Vijoleta Braach-Maksvytis said this world first simulator provides an innovative continuum with
our earlier invention, the Bionic ear, and provides an enhanced level of sophistication and access
for surgical training
