Everyone has their own strategy, and those that make money will stick to whatever it is.

If it's 2 cents next week, the person who sold 3M shares still has their options at the moment and they will probably be worth 1 cent at that time - a lazy additional $15K for the person on top of the $1K profit and getting control of their capital back again in a short time frame.

You can't go broke taking profits - I agree with you that you also can't get rich if you don't let your profits run however.
