Thanks for your responses, but I don't want an old VW VG tank, or a helicopter, or a scooter, or a Pope mobile. The small Merc is something I haven't considered, I might try and test drive one even though they are on the wrong side of $30k.
Goblin, what I do like about Commodores is the fact that they are made in Australia. However, they drink twice as much as the efficient 4 bangers. Maybe they would be ok converted to gas.
Some trivia for cefadog, Bentley has the greatest fuel wasting new car in Australia, over 20l/100km, followed by the Ford F350 and the Toyota Landcruiser.
