dino, as part of my commerce degree I had to do a unit called International Management. Put it off to the last semester as I didn't see the point of it but it was compulsory.
Turn out it was 80% about cultures in other countries and was very interesting.
I was tasked with writing a paper and doing a presentation on "is it more important to speak the language or understanding the culture" The conclusion was that it's more important to understand the culture.
If you ever wondered why American's get a bad rap when in other countries, it is mainly that they are ethnocentric and don't take much notice of the culture of the countries they visit and/or work in.
