Aldo I wouldn't write Europe off like that. I'm just back from 5 weeks in France and never felt safer. In fact I felt more safe there than I have on several trips to the USA (Washington DC, Chicago, New York). And just remember if your times up it's up wherever you are.
Have a great holiday but the best is to go where you want to not what is necessarily the safest.
