I think the bottom up valuation is extremely useful. With most businesses, it's very hard to predict future earnings. With developers such as Finbar, you can get a pretty good idea of earnings for the upcoming four or five years. Since the change to IFRS in around 2006? requiring earnings to be booked on settlement rather than percentage completion, a major advantage has been given to those willing to analyse upcoming projects and monitor pre-sales.
