The daily gross shorting data provided by ASX on a T+1 basis can be compared against the daily net shorted positions reported by ASIC (via Shortman) on a lagging T+4 basis. From there, it's not especially difficult to infer how much of the gross daily shorts have been covered (exited) in the intervening period.

The apparent obsession with daily gross shorting activity is somewhat pointless for a LT position investor in IGO, imo. The quantum/impact of shorting is pretty immaterial.

If you'd like to see just how immaterial net shorting activity is on the IGO SP, take a look at what happened when the net shorts rapidly and materially covered in one day on Feb 29 this year (i.e. net shorts down from 4.56% to 0.85% in a single day - https://www.shortman.com.au/stock?q=igo*). Volume spiked on that day, as expected, but it had zero meaningful impact on price. Why? Because there are much larger forces acting on the SP by 'vanilla' buyers and seller than a small shorting cohort.

(*Remember, this net short position data is sourced directly from ASIC - https://asic.gov.au/regulatory-resources/markets/short-selling/short-position-reports-table.)
