"twisso, first you have to know what part of the coastline they will be doing seismic and secondly it is not hard to protect a vessel doing only 4 knots. DYOR"
Do you know what part of the coastline the seismic will cover? The threat information for any particular area changes regularly. Somalis took 2 brits close to the Seychelles in late 2009 using launch vessels so I don't know how you can ever be to sure when tactics change so frequently.
How does the speed of a vessel negate the risk of piracy exactly? From what I've read and seen (including a documentary on UK TV which included interviews with Somali pirates) vessels need to be travelling at speed to avoid being boarded, not cruising at a leisurely 4 knots. I reackon I could have swam that fast over 100m in my day. Probably still can.
Until a JV partner signs onto the offshore seismic and proposes how the vessels will be protected the Puntland offshore is off the scale high risk.
DYOR indeed.
