Let's assume IMD's major investment into USA oilfields is going reasonably well. Afterall, it's a JV with an established firm and drilling in USA is going gangbusters for both oil and gas. (Remember if drillhole fails to strike oil/gas IMD still get paid for their drill lubricants and use of instruments).
Very soon IMD will release new downhole instrumentation AND their enviromentally friendly waste machine for CSG/shale gas drilling. Farmers/govts are (rightly) ultra sensitive re spillage/contamination from drill waste esp in CSG sector where numerous (shallow) holes are required. Hence, i feel the mkt is large. There are competitors but IMD have plenty staff in field selling lubricant. Same personnell can sell waste storage machine. Competitors are small without the large sales force at coal face.
Instrumentation saves costs. Drilling is hellish expensive for miners/oil-explorers, and these instruments save time, money and ensure far greater accuracy. Hence, even in a downturn the macro is GOOD. I hope a IMD newsletter with unaudited accounts is released about mid-July. It will provide suffering shareholders with some certainty and hopefully relief that sales are still increasing. Strong AUD does hurt margins and a drop to 90-94c goes straight to bottom line for all revenue from overseas. Also makes competitors imports into Oz more expensive. Overall i remain positive.
