A competitor does NOT need to be another neuromorphic chip. It can be ANY architecture that satisfies the consumer's needs.
Sure. It is quite possible that someone makes the decision to buy a very specific processor for say, vision processing because that is what they need. However, from an engineering standpoint, professional engineers will attempt to minimize efforts, power consumption and reduce current and future costs.
With Akida being sensor agnostic, it can address more than vision processing tasks should the need arise in the future. Learning one architecture further reduces the cost of a learning curve when it comes to integrating other sensors.
I believe intelligent engineers will choose a solution like Akida if they know the option exists rather than go with a highly specialized solution. If anything, for the power savings and the on-chip learning capabilities it offers.
