Looksmart will soon launch 230 new web properties with key areas in Local search and sports.

On August 29th, Dean Cookson of Looksmart registered over 230 new domain names for new web properties.

From what I can make out they are going into the following clustered areas:

- Local search
- Travel
- Motoring
- Medicine (had a hunch about this one)
- Home/lifestyle
- Food
- Sports
- Shopping / ladies accessories
- Music

Domain names are listed on the following posts. You can verify for yourselves that Dean when registered them by going to www.whois.net and doing a whois lookup on any of the domain names.

They clearly don't have enough range in findarticles to support so many verticals, so I suspect there has been an expansion of publishers to cover this and hence an increase in the 10 million articles.

The coming quarters should be very promising indeed - these are very targetted sites, and will present an excellent ROI for advertisers IMO, leading to high click prices.

Bear in mind that the last set of verticals were released within a month of the domain names being reserved....
