"Labor will remain a viable force as long as they are not calling themselves "liberal". As long as the illusion of democracy is around we will have liberal and labor in perpetuity. "

    partially agree

Labor will remain a force as long as they continue to move away from a purely Labour based party - which, they have been for a long while now.

Liberals (who are the pole opposite of Liberal) ----------

Liberals in OZ atm - cannot possibly remain a force - because they have no ground to stand on - they have allowed change to come along and rip their principles from under them - without putting other foundations in place

if they are to survive - then, they must forge new foundations - they must do what Labor has done and grow from their origin

growing is such a wonderful fluffy warm cuddly word - but, as Labor will tell you -

it's a rip and tear ya guts out process sometimes -

the Liberals are just beginning to go through that process - they change Prime Ministers more often than some of us change our undies -

why? -------- because there's no foundation for a leader to hold onto and say to the troops ----------------- this is the post we hold onto fast - no matter how fast the water

Liberals of Australia have no post to cling to -------------- the posts have been washed away in the last ???????? 20? 30 years

they must do the hard yards before anything can happen

they 'might' cling on to power - but, that will be at the cost - horrendous cost of the nation if they do - because the only reason why a foundation-less group can hold power is because the opposing forces are too weak -

and, that --------- that will kill us all
