Will have to wait and see, but if our government doesn't go with the Japanese subs, then we are doomed to blow another 50 billion on dud subs that haven't been proven.

The French proposal is to convert a nuclear powered boat into a conventional powered sub. Unproven, untried and will end in disaster.

The German proposal would require a sub to be doubled in length and displacement.

The Jap proposal is to use a sub that is almost the right size already - and it has already been proven to be extremely stealthy and capable.

I don't know why they are doing this, but any decision NOT to go with the Japs will be a big mistake.
