The AMFF was nothing more than Stu day trading futures and having a lucky streak, starting from an extremely low base (something like $100k) and being heavily geared (futures traders tend to have their margins financed by big clearing firms in order to maximise returns).
He has now had a very unlucky trading streak, racking up millions upon millions of trading losses in listed entities (HML/BHD) as well as throwing piles of money at the JBFG schemozzle on top of the related party loans. Let's not pretend, for one second, that listed Stu was impeded by things like 'being accountable' and that unlisted Stu is a bastion of honesty and success.
