Last year a company called Amerisur Resources (an oil exploration company active in South America, including Colombia) drilled a well called Platanillo-2 in Colombia, with good "oil shows" in 3 zones.
But it wasn't until they did some testing did they actually flow oil to surface (450bopd, 430bopd, 161bopd) from the 3 zones. They have now declared it an oil discovery.
I'm no oil expert but to my knowledge testing includes wireline logging to determine the intervals that oil sands (if any) have been intersected, then perforating the casing at that point, and subsequent flow testing.
From the latest BKP release we know that oil sands have been intersected, let's hope that some oil flows eventuate.
