"Alinta shops stake in offshore wind project Spinifex; banks hired"
The offshore wind project is gaining traction.
Alinta is seeking an equity and co-development partner for its 1000 megawatt Victorian offshore wind project, Spinifex, which has been tipped as a game-changer that could supply the equivalent of 10 per cent of the state’s electricity needs.
At Spinifex, Alinta is considering parting with a 20 per cent to 50 per cent stake in the project, which would need $4 billion-plus capital expenditure to get up and running. (Investment in offshore wind projects is a red-hot sector in Australia. Origin Energy is partnering with RES for a Gippsland site, while Tasmania’s Bass Offshore Wind Energy has attracted the interest of Norway’s Equinor.)
Some serious money in these projects and they're all going to need what MMA has. A proven division that can provide services for construction and maintenance.
It's looking very good for this company. Lets hope they procure a local company to help in the construction phase, if thats the case the maintenance contracts will follow.
Game changer IMHO
