Costs of production is a function of ounces produced. When you can't access your pit due to unseasonal heavy rainfalls ounces produced go down and costs per ounce up. One should be able to make a distinction between structurally high production costs and temporarily high production costs due to temporary adverse effects. SBM sacrificed short term ounces in favor of laying the groundwork for much higher production (thus much lower costs per ounce) in the future. Looking at past production costs only leaves you blind for what is shaping up right now.
