    Hi Benson, I was using the idea of satellite phone coverage to illustrate the point that you shouldn't have all your eggs in one basket, that a potential new technology could completely disrupt the Telstra business model, rather than it being an impending threat.

    Having said that - having previously worked as a communications Engineer with Telstra the possibility of low-altitude satellites providing internet and telephony is very real. These links focus on internet but with phased array beam forming technology there's very real prospect this will be feasible with handheld phones in the future given some satelite receivers can be mounted indoors.
