There are two main issues with H2SO4.
It is produced near the locations where it is needed by various industries, therefore in some areas it is plentiful, others, scarce.
It is violently hygroscopic, meaning you dont want to add water to it as the reaction boils the water and spits acid everywhere.
The main drama is that it is horrendously expensive to transport, for obvious reasons.
Another problem is that we need a lot of it and the uranium sites are often fairly isolated.
