Robert Lamarre (Lamarre Geological Enterprises) spoke from direct experience in helping to establish the region's largest CBM field, Drunkards Wash, as he described the geology of the deposit, technical challenges and opportunities in developing the field, and requirements for further expansion of production. He noted that the field was well situated and sufficiently large to permit concentric dewatering of the Ferron coals leading to rapid commercialization and ultimately very large gas recoveries. Brad Miller (Anadarko Petroleum) focused on the use of new technical advances in CMB reservoir characterization and well completions that have been responsible for efficient, cost-effective development and operation of the Helper field. Robert Unger (J.M. Huber Corporation) described the special efforts by Huber in dewatering the Blackhawk coals in the Castlegate field and current water disposal solutions."
