Many years ago when I was working in the USA, a large investor (whose surname ended in BERG), advised me to evaulate major company events using the following outcomes:
1. Win lose lose - management
2. Win win lose - management major investors
3. Win win win - management, major investors, retail shareholders
You would be surprised how infrequently Outcome 3 applies.
