I would have assumed that they would have looked at the logs very hard to try and make sure they had not drilled into just an old part of a depleted field.

They know where they are in relation to Chevron, and I would assume that they would not have spent the money on production casing unless they were very confident it is a seperate field (as mapped) and it will flow at decent rates.

Given the area is not huge then they can't drop in too many wells. Given they think they have 20m barrels recoverable, then they must think they will flow at pretty decent rates.
