All a bit sad really. The rejection probably comes as much from his age as anything else. Some old people get very funny about things like that.
In a way, it sort of highlights the lameness of 'awards'.
You'd have to wonder seriously about the elation and appreciation you could enjoy for being given an award that you've had to throw a little wobbly to get......shouldn't laugh but......lol.
The old fella certainly knows how to apply the pressure!
