Actually, it has nothing to do with the infinity symbol, the Chinese characters for 8 and 4 are very different from the Arabic numerals. It has all to do with the sound of the numbers in Mandarin. The word for 8 sounds very similar to the word for rich, and the word for 4 sounds similar to the word for death, hence you are not likely to find a number 4 ward in a Chinese hospital either. Doubling up basically means very much so.

But I agree that it is a good name choise, much better than Tangiers Pete anyway.
