Most Australian's appreciate Australia day as a holiday and enjoy this great country we live in, by having some mates round, a few beers and charred flesh on the BBQ. It's an inclusive celebration for all. I would think that Cook's landing is hardly a discussion point.
May I suggest the following - We change the date of Australia Day so that it doesn't upset some sensitive types, in return - all aboriginal welfare is scrapped and instead they will be covered by the same welfare/assistance schemes that apply to all other Australians.
