Politics plays a big part at times. I had an interest in a local coal seam gas company that was doing OK until the local greenies linked up with the "not in my back yard" group and formed another group "lock the gate". They were not only active in shutting down the company but they ended up getting us a Green local member and almost lost the neighbouring electorate for the Nats. They can take the credit for the gas shortage in NSW. Lock the Gate has now set its eyes on Queensland.
Part of the group call themselves "The Knitting Nannas". They sit outside the local members office on a daily basis handing out protest Lock the Gate leaflets while they go about knitting and making it a social event. They have been there for a few years now and don't look like changing habits. That member is not going to contest the seat at the next election after being in what used to be a safe seat for him for several years.
