"Reserve Bank Governor Glenn Stevens said "very accommodative" global monetary policy is likely to remain in place for quite a while" seems fairly definitive to me.
Stevens chooses his words very carefully, nothing he says in a public forum is really "off the cuff".
Of course he didn't comment directly on Australian interest rates.
I agree with your sentiment and this is not news per se. Most expect interest rates to stay low for an extended period. Except those that are hoping they will surge, cause a crash in property and let them buy in cheap.
