I note Intra Energy are in production. A vicious rumour has it that coal of their coal prospects (bordering Lake Malawi) used to belong to UNX (located within the same sedimentary basin – one would assume similar characteristic given the authigenic nature of their formation) - before the tenements were dropped. A mistake maybe?
Small stuff to be sure (at present), but I note Intra Energy are slowly ramping up – selling 6.7kt of coal product in June. It is interesting they coal their product “high-grade thermal coal”, targeting 3Mtpa by 2015, eventually rising to 7Mt pa – primarily for domestic consumption. Note that their resources are averaging 32% ash – hence the reason why the comments are attributed to UNX’s properties as well.
In either case, real dearth of technical information to make any judgement.
Have noted that the Indians have acquired several smaller basin assets nearby too.
