Shale gas prices at all time lows, huge resources of shale being found all over the world, coal mines shutting down all over north america, asia building LNG tankers as fast as they can, LNG C02 & other pollution levels way lower than coal -- case for thermal coal weak I would have said. Nuclear is the only real long term answer although cheap shale gas/LNG will be stiff competition as it doesn't have the radiation scare factor that Nuclear has BUT has the fracking scare factor vs coals pollution scare factor -- it's just a case of picking the least scary, the cheapest & oh yes the one thats not turning the earth into a little orbiting oven with no eject seat for man nor beast, if you believe all that green house gas 'rubbish' that is.
