    some have argued that lincs process creates co2 at the production process and this is merely being balanced by the environmental benefits at the exhaust.

    that may be true but it is also true that any refinery producing premium diesel has the same issues.

    see this quote from the previous article.

    ""However, it should be borne in mind that the increased processing at refineries to make sulpur-free fuels also uses more energy and these increases in CO2 emissions may offset to some extent the gains made in these new vehicles.""

    also,

    there is an increased cost at the refinery for producing premium diesel.....this added cost will be passed on to consumers.

    also,

    australia imports approx 140,000bpd of diesel and unless we start producing diesel in australia we will continue to import diesel and more than likely it will be PREMIUM DIESEL.

    why do we want to import 140,000bpd of premium diesel that can ONLY be produced at refineries who will increase their co2 emmissions in the process when we can produce it in australia for the australian market.

    and lets not forget that the government has now endorsed carbon capture and storage.....the first country to do so.
