Fossil fuels are being replaced by renewal energy because they are a market failure. The failure is the environmental and health damage caused by fossil fuels, including US$2.9 trillion yearly in costs from air pollution, over 4.5 million deaths, 4 million new cases of asthma in children, global warming and more.

At some point, the environmental costs of lithium mining/extraction, including water and power usage, will need to be factored into the cost equation. If DLE works at scale, is economically viable, and environmentally sustainable, then it's good for the planet and the transition to electric vehicles/renewable energy.

It's positive that people question the viability of DLE because it encourages critical thinking. However, it's far more useful to provide details about why DLE may not be commercially viable than to attack its advancement as promotional hype. That way, people can counter the arguments with useful information and investors can make more informed decisions.
