I think you are stressing too much about his opinions. He has been identified as a has-been. His industry contacts and information bubble are mostly old-school. He is an accountant, but with a lot of experience in the industry (that was).

He has no qualifications in chemistry or chemical or materials engineering. I think I would much rather trust a PhD with skin in the game (Lilac's Snydacker) than someone with an identified conflict of interest being paid by some sectors of an evolving industry.

Given what has been described in his recent podcasts, I think too much attention has already been given on this forum to his opinions.
