The options are free, but they must be redeemed within 12 months of ARL listing on ASX. The price is determined by the weighted average over 5 trading days 3 months after listing (approx 8th May). The options are redeemed at this price plus 25%. Therefore, an 80c price at 3 months will result in a $1 redemption price by February 2018. The options only have value if the share price is higher than the theoretical $1. If the shares are worth $3 at that time, you buy $3 shares for a dollar each -- hence the option.
