The process for extraction can take up to 2 years for the evaporative process to complete, which accordingly is a massive challenge for companies to account for.
I note some commentary on the operating expenses being lower for brine extraction. This is true since the metal does not have to be mined, but a much higher capital is required to create the large evaporative ponds.
