Tonight, President **riel Boric will announce the National Lithium Policy on a national channel.
The president's message will be broadcast at 9:00 p.m., on the eve of his trip to the Antofagasta Region -together with the Ministers of Finance, Mario Marcel; from Mining, Marcela Hernando, and from the Economy, Nicolás Grau- to present the plan in depth.
In a minute that was disseminated among pro-government parliamentarians, it was detailed that a bill will be entered for the creation of the National Lithium Company. To this is added the creation of the Public Institute of Lithium and New Technologies, in the second semester of 2023.
Likewise, there will be a strategy for the entry of the State as a productive actor in the Atacama salt flat. The strategy will be implemented in 2023 and will operate from 2024.
A mechanism for exploration and cadastre of resources from salt flats other than the Salar de Atacama will also be implemented.
Another axis that will be announced will be that there will be a participatory process, at the national level and with local communities, and the creation of the Corfo Committee for the productive development of Lithium and Salt Flats, in the third quarter of 2023.
Within this policy there will be a "public-private" collaboration. According to the minutes, the State will put a "long-term strategic vision throughout the production cycle," while private companies will contribute "capital, technological innovation, and networks in the market."
