Reading about EVs, I believe the tipping point wetween EV and ICE will be when lithium Ion batteries in EVs achieve the following:
- Range -1000 km ( I have selected this figure to compensate for Towing performance)
- Anticipated life - 10 years+
- Recharging Time - 10 minutes.
- Cost - (battery) < USD 3000
- Lithium batteries can be contoured to fit the shape of the car and the servicing costs of EVs should be a lot less than ICEs. A big negative at the moment is Towing performance. The range falls off markedly when towing a boat or trailer.
- I think BYD is likely to be the major manufacturer of EVs in the next decade and I believe they have plans to manufacture in Brazil.
