Sodium batteries have a cell capacity roughly 2/3 of a similar size/weight lithium battery. In terms of EVs, where the size and efficiency of the battery is critical, i cannot see sodium making an impression on the EV market (at least not for many years). It appears that sodium batteries will be marketed as energy storage devices that target hotter climates due to a lower risk of temp. related fires.

The tech. has been around for a while and i cannot see the main EV makers making fundamental changes to design, manufacturing and tech of Li based EVs.
