Thank you for posting a thought provoking list, narrowspec. I'm prompted to wonder what the list of 2039 might look like. The Science is almost certainly understood, the inventions may be already patented but innovation is either struggling or not even started. Anyone who can successfully predict future innovation would be worth following. Problem is: how to tell the gurus from the grunters?
I've been looking into pebble bed nuclear reactors as one up and coming innovation. I wonder what other innovative ideas may be out there?
