People with your views are why the world is stagnant to change, yes it may not be completely "green" now but you have to start somewhere or no progress will ever be made.

It's like saying fusion energy is useless to invest time and money in because it doesn't produce enough energy and isn't cost effective. Lithium tech will get better and will get more environmentally sustainable as all technology is.
