The performance rights , if motivated by greed , would have certainly been unethical as indeed this was how they were perceived by most shareholders .
As for illegal activities on the asx there is constantly pumps and dumps , leaked information , insider trading , misleading statements etc etc every day across countless numbers of shares . And then of course are all the brokers perks , bots , trading 1 share , shorting stocks , tipping clients abouts crs etc etc and how many of these blatently illegal and or unethical practices are pursued by the toothless tiger ASIC ?
Probably less than 1% of complaints , so don't talk about ethics and legality in the same breath as the ASX , the whole system stinks to high heavens .
By the way I did not accuse anyone of being unethical or doing anything illegal , I simply posted that manipulation was a plausible explanation . Share price .manipulation is such an all pervasive feature of the Asx it never even crossed my mind it was illegal or anything out of the normal which indeed it is not on the ASX .
