Hi FB,
You know who is selling them, the people who think in terms of 20% profit and then OUT. The same people who after years and years of trading have nothing to show for their efforts.
Frustrating as it is, we can't stop them, so getting angry will help nothing.
The positive side is that RIO is (probably) not buying from the existing top 20 so the the 76% is becoming 80% pretty fast and the free-float is drying up fast.
If the shares are moving from the hands of the low attention span people to the hands of the serious people, and the serious people intend to keep on buying, then there comes a critical-mass point where the price has to move sharply.
This is also because even the fools wake up eventually. Even they realise that they will get much, much, more if they wait just a bit longer.
I am not sure what will happen with free-float after the merger as I do not know the top 20 holdings of KAH, I guess our English friends can provide that info.
I suspect there will be more liquidity which will allow RIO to accumulate more easily until they hit 30%. If Martin is right, then RIO need to lay their cards on the table after the 30% mark.
I don't know if you play chess, but I think we are entering the phase called "the end game".
There is more room on the board as there are less pieces, the potential actions become clearer as there is less clutter. The previously stifled power of the rooks, queens and bishops becomes unbridled as their options become more expansive.
This is where we are heading, the gloves are coming off, and the battle will begin soon enough. Do you think the big end of town does not smell opportunity here? Don't you think they will jump in to take a piece themselves so they can hold RIO to ransom later on?
Yes, this is the end game and the battle of the titans will make us pawns richer through their actions.
